BY journey: In the morning, our driver will drop you off in Sonprayag, after which you will take a local jeep to Gourikund and then begin your journey to Kedarnath Ji. Following darshan, you return to Sonpraag. There is a significant parking difficulty, therefore the driver will return to another palace. KEDARNATH:The Kedarnath Shrine, one of Lord Shiva's 12 jyotirlingas, is a picturesque location set against the spectacular Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name for Lord Shiva. According to mythology, after defeating the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra battle, the Pandavas felt guilty over killing their own brothers and sought Lord Shiva's favor for redemption. He evaded them again and sought refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. When he realized he was being pursued, he dove beneath the ground, leaving his hump visible. The remaining pieces of Lord Shiva arrived in four different locations and are worshipped as his incarnations.Tungnath saw his arms, Rudranath saw his face, Madhmaheshwar saw his abdomen, and Kalpeshwar saw his locks (hair) and head. Kedarnath and the four aforementioned shrines are collectively known as Panch Kedar. KEDARNATH WEATHER - Because to its great altitude, the weather in Kedarnath is cold for most of the year. Summers here are cool and pleasant, however winters are harsh. During the summer, the temperature ranges around 20° Celsius. Light woolen clothing is advised. The winter season in Kedarnath is harsh, with temperatures dropping to as low as 0° Celsius. During this period, the area also experiences snowfall. Tourists typically avoid this time due to harsh weather conditions.
