It is a compound with nine temples, 23 chortens, a monk's chamber, and a nun's chamber. The monastery houses a great quantity of scriptures, works of art, wall paintings, and stucco. En route visits Dhankar Gompa, Spiti's traditional capital, situated on a hilltop. Today, around 160 Lamas live here.The primary attraction of this over 700-year-old monastery is a statue of Dhyan Buddha, which features four complete statues of Buddha sitting back to back.
